This is where all the criminals and miscreants are brought until a court date can be arranged, and where they are often booked, charged, etc. The police force is of good size; they tend to perform their jobs extremely well, though they seem to be struggling with the new gang in town, as well as the vampires who plague the city streets; the mortality rates for the force have gone up for the first time in years, thanks to this powerful group of blood suckers.

"Wolven," Excise softly corrected when she began that it was another vampire, having recognized the body movement and style instantly, especially being one himself, a quick glance straying her direction at the sheer amount of venom in her voice, raising a brow at her tone, wondering what could possibly have happened to make her this hateful towards each of the species, though he kept his cool and fell silent once more - who was he to judge? Especially given the chronic liar and hypocrite he appeared to be, after all, he was keeping his own Wolven and Vampiric blood and heritage a secret so it wouldn't negatively affect and impact his career, though she didn't need to know that, especially given her hatred for both kinds of species - at least, not yet. He was not so foolish as to believe it would remain a secret forever, as all secrets had a way of coming out and unraveling, even those kept at their best and not released even in their prime, a feature and fact Excise knew was eventually coming his way, whether he liked it or not, or whether he was prepared for it or not. But now was not that time nor that day, and it was not a particularly optimal time to dwell on the facts and statistics of such, as all his attention and vast mental capacities needed to be on this instant in time and on protecting his partner in particular, in case the beast came back. He knew that some of his kind were monsters, and more often than not, those who settled in the city were those types, never interested in peace or coexisting alongside the humans as Excise himself did, leaving him in a bind and often wondering what was the point of it all, or if he should even really attempt to change anything. Some days it didn't even seem like he was making a difference, a nagging whisper of a voice he took great care not to listen to and usually tuned out when he could, only rarely entertaining its ideas or even contemplating the wisdom of its words. And so he took a deep breath, calming and steadying his nerves, readying himself for the possibility that this Wolven would return, falling silent as he quietly listened to Liz's rant, knowing it was the best way for her to bleed off the poison of whatever atrocity had befallen her - she had to be allowed and permitted to vent without fear or anxiety about the repercussions and retributions that could befall her for such blatant slandering of both species, not that any on the force would mind her words. Truth be told, they would all support such ideals and notions, as being the peace officers responsible for enforcing the laws all across the city, they saw the worst of each and every one on a daily basis. While he appeared a couple of shades paler during the course of her stream of foul language, he did not interrupt or contradict, merely let her get the poisoning venom out of her system, thinking and believing it to be better that way, and further sealing and cementing the strength of their partnership and bond. It was clear that if they could survive all of this, they would make excellent partners, as not many could claim to have such a rough start to a new city, relationship, or even one particular day. While he was on guard duty, intently studying their surroundings and placement for any sign of the Wolven's return, he did as she asked, radioing the incident in without question and rather promptly, all without taking his eyes from the dreary scenery lingering before them, nodding his agreement to her assessment and confirming his unyielding support to her decision.

Liz took a breath and swallowed after her rant and allowed him to radio it in without her voice being in the background. Her knuckles were white as she gripped the steering wheel. The vampire behind her swallowed" Sh.......She's not going to kill me right? "he asked sounding dumb. Liz glanced away and found the question annoying" Not unless you give me a reason... I'm not as blood thirsty and careless as you vampire "she said sharply. She scanned the area making sure that thing didn't return again. one hand gently brushed against her shoulder the one that Excise only breifly saw a scar there. to anyone who noticed her motion. it simply looked like the scar pained her. which in truth it did only because the memory of when she got it came to her. Her face looked cold like she didn't like the situation but would deal with it properly.

Excise glanced at the vampire seated behind them, arching a brow at the sheer stupidity of such a question, resisting the urge to answer in an equally stupid manner, swallowing as he reminded himself he was better than that, hanging the radio up as he settled back to wait, keeping the emerald depths of his eyes trained on the surrounding area and forcing himself to concentrate on the possible threats out there, not to let his mind wander into the pandemonium that was the whirling gears of his mind, the brilliant instrument eagerly working to craft an explanation for all the killings, the sudden spree of homicides and spike in crime, the links between the murders they'd been placed on, to relive the horrible events of the day in a vain effort to seek a connection - there was a time and a place for that, and it was not here, nor was it now. He would be able to interrogate the prisoner when they got him back to the precinct, and not before, so it was no use worrying and ninnying over it now, not when he needed to be alert and focus his senses on whoever it was out there who had stopped them - clearly they didn't want this vampire reaching the station or divulging what he knew, but that was just too bad - Excise wasn't going to give them a choice, he was going to get this vampire, and his partner, there in one piece, or die trying. Just like he was going to solve the intricate and delicate mystery that was this vile and increasingly complex monster of a case. He figured that Liz was professional enough to handle her hatred for the other species that roamed their fair city, though he didn't fail to note how she winced when she hit the scar, or the implications of its meaning, though he didn't bring it up or question her - he'd let her tell him all about herself in good time, in bits and pieces, or simply as she wished, when she wished. Everyone had their secrets, and he wasn't one to push or to pry.

Liz wasn't about to lose it on the case just because it was a vampire.. she would keep her cool and be professional in this situation. She didn't like however being stuck in a car with the vampire and others being out. She did think that wolven was out to stop them. but then she thought why? why would that Wolven help a vampire? the two races didn't like each other. She kept her hand on her shoulder for a moment before gently returning it to the steering wheel.

Excise was quiet, as always, while they waited, his keen green eyes taking in the scenery, the super senses he had been gifted with extending to the maximum permits of their range without his invoking his "other half," thus keeping his dual nature and identity as a Hybrid Wolven secret for a few moments longer, knowing that if he revealed such as now, Liz would most likely shoot him herself and turn him into the force, not a pleasant alternative. He understood she must have reasons for such a deep seated hatred, he knew, but as of now, the young male could not fathom what such must have been, nor would he pry - it was one of the fundamental properties of partners he had learned early on, despite the fact that he hadn't had very many of them, and those he had had were disturbed and creeped out by his almost unnaturally quiet presence, especially when coupled with the fact that he always seemed to have some kind of information that as of yet hadn't been discovered or revealed to them, a fact he often owed to his super senses, though those who knew him, even those who considered they knew him well, were not aware of this feature or attribute. And he planned very much so to keep it that way, he had no reason to disturb the already adequate balance he had set up in his life, or to undo all of the hard work he had put forth so far to maintain his secret and career. He glanced at her from time to time to ensure she was alright, that she wasn't over there fuming so much that she was prone to biting her nails as some people were or injuring herself in some other mundane way - not that he believed she would commit such an action, but because he knew a few of those self destructive behaviors were involuntary - like biting one's nails: it was unhealthy and could lead to damage to the fingers and hands in the long run. Not that he took Liz for a nail biter either, she didn't seem the nervous type, more like the serious, analytical sort who observed and picked apart the world through a means of deduction and coming to the true solution in regards of problems and issues she might have faced. He had no doubt she would keep her professionalism, she seemed like the keep it together and mature type, for all the fact that she had a temper. All in all, Excise felt he might grow to like this partner, and could come to change his views when it came to working with other people as such - he didn't mind her spunk, or the unique perspective she seemed to have on life, for all that she hated his kind. Fact was, he wasn't too fond of them himself, either, because of the reasoning and histories of his past, though that was something he would keep to himself as well, now was not the time or place to divulge such information, and they weren't that far along in their professional and working relationship.

Liz leaned back and let out a sigh" what annoys you the most? "she asked calmly glancing over towards Excise. Since they were stuck here might as well get to know each other a little better. She seemed a little more calm then she was when the wolven iced the hood. She brushed her hand over where her scar was and sighed. She held back a wince at the soreness in her arm from the bullet wound.

Excise shifted in his seat, adjusting himself so that he was more comfortable, taking the pressure off of his bruised and battered ribs, resting his forearm upon the window sill as he tucked his weapon back into its holster, leaning casually back against the seat. For all of the indignities they had suffered, for all of the atrocities they had seen, and despite what a train wreck of a first day they had had together, he seemed unflustered, undisturbed by the apparent stress, always calm and collected, cool as a cucumber, some might say. His face wasn't even flushed, his hair wasn't particularly out of place, not that he would have cared if it were. His shirt was slightly tattered from the carnage of the wreck, his breathing slightly hitched due to the grating scrape against his rib cage - it felt as if bone were rubbing against bone in one such area, but he knew there was nothing they could do. There was no way to set ribs, no method upon which to treat them other than wrapping and pain medication, the latter of which Excise would not tolerate - he hated any sort of strong medication, preferring to be in control at any and all times, refusing to be down or rely upon another to take care of him, or support him in any venture or test of endurance other than when he was in his line of work, and thus had the aid of all the force at his beck and call. Still, he wasn't in that bad of shape, even considering the gash upon his head, which was now covered in the white swath of bandages, which were now stained red with his own blood. Luckily, he was one of those who had the normal blood coloring - if he had been a Blue or Black blood it would have been harder to conceal the true nature of his identity. Even so, he knew that he couldn't be feeling quite as rough as Liz, she had been through just as much, and probably didn't have the accelerated healing factor a Wolven was most certainly always gifted with, despite the fact of whether or not they were full blooded or only a mere halfbreed, a Hybrid with only one Wolven parent with which to claim. He paused to consider her question, and then shrugged easily, for now ignoring the vampire in the back, leaning ever so slightly against the window as he turned partially towards her, at a loss for what really, truly did annoy him the most, as he was normally a very calm, an extremely patient, person. If he had to guess, he'd say it was probably the callous nature in which others blatantly disregarded the life of another, the terrible way in which they treated others of their kind, or showed such a lack of disrespect for those who were suffering. Such was what he said, anyway, though not in so many words, his cool tone replying smoothly, in his quiet, whispering nature of a voice, "Lack of concern for another, I guess. You?" Like her, he figured there was no harm in the line of questioning. Might as well pass the time while they wait.

Liz thought for a moment" Losing partners.... or having to deal with people that believes they are above others... like this bloody jerk behind us "she said gently " I don't like when the situation becomes out of hand and chaotic "he said softly. surprisingly.. when they were shot at and the chase started she didn't miss a beat going after the guy. Liz glanced down" I've seen to many of my fellow officers die by the hands of vampires and wolvens.. both are equally as bad in my book "she muttered.

Excise's ear perked when she spoke of losing partners, catching the note of sorrow and bitter betrayal in her voice, something that lead him to guess she had more than enough experience concerning that particular department; though Excise himself did not - he'd only had a partner once, and it was enough to know it wasn't something he had wished to do again, considering its own particular outcome. It hadn't been a terrible or tragic end to their relationship as a working pair, but it hadn't necessarily been pretty, much less pleasant, either. The green of his eyes blinked as she continued speaking, face impassive as he hid the inner surprise, something more akin to downright astonishment, of her admittance to losing control, especially taking into account the way she had heedlessly charged into battle with nary a thought as to the outcome. However, he supposed it made sense, now that he considered it - she certainly did seem like the type to stay in control, not to lose herself to wild emotions and charge off helter skelter without some kind of plan in mind. He could appreciate that, he supposed, another thing kept hidden from her probing orbs, eyes that he knew were attempting to read his every move, as she had no doubt been trained to do - they all had, sooner or later, during the course of their detective classes, the actions of learning the ropes and figuring out how to best question their suspects, even if their learning curve had been exceedingly thin. As for those who thought they were better than anyone else, he could agree to that. Excise didn't really care for those sort of people himself, though on the other hand, he couldn't care less about species - didn't matter if they were Vamp, Wolven, or Human - if they decided they owned the world, he despised or hated them all equally. He stretched languidly, and gingerly, within his space of seat in the car, shaking out the golden corn row hue of his mane, still tightly tied back, strictly restrained, pony tail. "Seen too many die by the hands of all races - there's good and bad in us all, Liz. The only question is whether or not we ourselves give into it," he offered just that one solmn peice of advice, though he was quick to add, "But our current little "friend" is more than enough to try my nerves at this point." Excise hadn't forgotten how the vampire had killed one of their rookies, and he wasn't about to, but when it came to the different races, he tried not to be prejudice - he had too, considering his roots. Not that Liz herself would know that.

Liz glanced down for a moment. She knew how to stay calm in tough situations but.... when things get out of control she gets annoyed and anything could push her buttons then. She doesn't like losing control of her anger because she becomes blind to certein things. "yeah death happens to us all.... but If I would ever be turned... i'd shot myself "she muttered. The Vampire froze hearing this.... She what?

Excise paused, blinking his emeraldian green orbs at that particular little revelation, not quite sure how to respond. He assumed that there was some sort of history to back up why Liz would feel so, knew for a fact that she would not just throw such a sentiment out without having given it proper thought, though he'd only just met her this day, he could already tell certain things about her, and knew well how to read her own certain type. She was a good cop, an excellent officer, even, and had high standards accompanied by even higher morals - it was one of the traits he shared with her, though unlike Elizabeth, Excise himself was a lot quieter, far more in tune with their surroundings and nature - he had to be, if he were to keep up with his Wolven half and effectively hide or manage it. A skill he had spent years honing, and right now, boy was he glad he did: he most certainly did not desire for Liz to find out about his mixed blood heritage at this given moment in time, especially seeing as their partnership was still new and they had no history upon which to build, no past upon which he could fall back on to prove his points should she discover his current secret. He breathed a soft sigh, chin dipping ever so slightly as he closed his eyes, one hand reaching up to pinch the small space upon the bridge of his nose, located just between the vibrant summer coloring that was his eyes. Though Excise was not one to pry, now seemed as good a time as any to get to know her a bit better, even if he doubted she would share such personal information just yet, and in the presence of a prisoner, to boot. "Any particular reason why?" He murmured softly, keeping his tone neutral, his face impassive as he offered a glance at her, long blonde pony tail drifting across the muscular expanse of his shoulder as he did so, maintaining his aura of absolute calm and cool maturity, as well as that distant air in which he persisted in keeping other's at arm's length, never letting them closer to his own personal life or divulging such personal details as the peculiars of his life.

Liz's eyes seemed cold and distant when she talked about the vampires and wolven. She blinked and glanced down" I've seen them destroy lives so many times and the vamprie wolven war that goes on.. it kills more then members of either side... it kills the humans caught in the middle "She said and glanced back out the window. She saw Peter driving up to where they were but he was close to a block away still.

(Part one) Excise's luminous green eyes glance towards the rearview mirror, noting the approaching car and Liz's reaction; judging by such, it was safe for him to assume it wasn't anyone to be concerned over, perhaps even a friend - he'd forgotten just what kind of car Peter was driving, he knew only that Liz had demanded he get one to follow them as soon as possible. The bandages about his head were stained lightly with his blood, only a faint red outline could be seen, and the catch in his ribs was aching almost unbearably, making him just a tish crankier than usual. Add to that the horrendous day this had already been, and his temper was running a little short, though he took a slight breath - not too deep, for the fact of his battered and broken rib cage - and calmed himself, the male reminding his immediately defensive mind that she had a point.

(Part two) There were Wolven and Vampires who had no regard for life, and whom had hurt the people not involved for no better reason than sport - he'd seen it before, and would likely see it again. Still, not all Wolven were vile, as evidenced by he himself, though he wasn't trying to be cocky or arrogant, and most certainly nothing near the realm of pompous, he didn't think he was all that bad. Sure, he had faults, but he did his best, and he tried to help the city more than hurt it. Besides that, he was positive she had a reason for thinking such, he could only imagine what it was, though he would not pry. Liz would tell him in her own time, not a moment before, and not a second after. He just had to give her space right now, after all, they were new partners - trust would come later. And then there was the fact she didn't know about his Wolven side, and for this, he was rather grateful. In fact, not many people at all knew, only a select handful, and those who did, were wise to keep it a secret - not even Excise himself was aware they had discovered the otherwise well maintained lie of being nothing more than a mere human. So he kept his voice, which could so quickly rise to booming volume in any event of ire, soft and neutral, reminding, "While that may be true, not all Wolven, or Vampires for that matter, are as dark or twisted as you might think. I respect your privacy and opinions, but I offer this advice in return: In this city, it's best to keep an open mind. You never know where a case or even a simple circumstance might lead."

Liz glanced at him and her gaze wasn't kind as she normally did when she looked to her partner. Her jaw clinched shut" open mind?.... OPEN MIND? you try having an open mind when you get the sh** beaten out of you by vampires... see your brother get dragged 10 flipping blocks behind a car a vampire was driving. See people you work with getting killed by both sides of them... yeah there might be some good ones out there.... But I never met any remotely good.... they all turn on you.... that's their nature "she said slightly sharply. She turned her head around and looked over to see Peter getting out of the car. She took a breath and glanced away. Peter walked over towards their car and paused seeing the iced hood and the look on Liz's face. he glanced at Excise with an.... oh..... crap look on his face.

Excise clenched his teeth as he listened to her rant, the rising shriek of her voice hurting his fragile ears, and it took all his strength not to morph his features and snarl at her right then and there. He could feel the ice in her gaze, and as he met her eyes, his own green orbs were splintered with shards of it - as she spoke, he understood her pain, knew it could not have been easy. And she was right: he'd never watched a brother be dragged behind a car for ten miles. He'd never watched his family be slaughtered by Wolven or Vampire. But that didn't mean he didn't know pain. And so when he spoke, his tone was equally chilling, though it never rose in octave, nor did it waver in the slightest. His green eyes, so luminous, so haunting, so shockingly emerald in color, never flinched, nor did they drop her gaze or look away. His tone was even, his voice as soft as it ever was, though his hands were clenched upon the hilt of his weapon, the safety was on - he'd flipped it back to that position when he saw there was no immediate threat, and when he had picked up there was no impending doom through his sixth sense. "Yes, Liz, an open mind. You are not the only one to have suffered. In this city, everyone has, in some form or fashion. Personally it's why I chose this career. So that I might be able to spare someone else that kind of pain. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to clear the perimeter since your friend is here." With that, Excise threw open the door in one fluid motion, finally taking that penetrating stare off of her, and fluidly climbed out of the small patrol car, moving with a grace that was decidedly not human, not if one looked extremely close, or if one was really paying attention. The vampire in the back would have noticed this, even as he felt the beginnings of panic form at the thought of being left alone with what he felt was a crazy woman cop, though he was wise enough to keep his mouth shut on the matter - he didn't figure Excise for the forgiving type, and seeing as this particular blood sucker had already taken one of their rookies, obviously decided not to push his luck. Closing the door a bit more harshly than he intended, Excise met Peter's look with a slightly raised brow, as if questioning the brown haired male's belief that Excise himself could handle the situation. He'd had people go off on him before, he'd been in arguments a dozen times. One such spat had happened on the day his mother and father died...he'd been so frustrated...so angry...at their inability to move on from the past and get their acts together he had finally snapped at them. During school that day, of course he had felt guilty, and resolved to make it right with them upon his return home. He just had never been given the chance. A fact that haunted him still to this day, though he covered up the pain, hid the agony, closed it in and locked it away to be dealt with later, when he was on his own and not needed, when the world and force wasn't depending on him for some mundane reason or looking to him to handle some critical situation. "I'll clear the perimeter," he all but barked at Peter, moving off to complete his task, leaving Liz to fume, or roll down the window and explain to Peter what was going on. He didn't really care which at this point, he only knew he needed something new and different to focus on. Taking a few deeper breaths, despite the pain it caused him, as he moved away, Excise calmed himself, brought his inner rage back down to a managable and controllable level, though he did not return to the car. He couldn't, not now, not yet.

Peter how Excise reacted to Liz and swallowed with a oh no... look on his face. He glanced at Excise and let out a sigh. he brushed his hair back and walked over to liz. Liz got out of the car and watched Excise go. She glanced down and punched the hood of the car nearly puting a dent it in. She flinched ever so slightly. Peter came up to her" Take a breath liz " he said gently and when she let out a fummed one. He shook his head" again and slowly calm yourself.... Liz getting yourself worked up about this will only destract you.... and get someone hurt... and that someone could be you.... I know how this subject is very touchy and I understand why I really do.... Give it time and there are good in others.... Remember what your father said.... behind many Villins there are victums..... And do not judge a race based on the actions of a few "he said softly. Liz leaned against the car and whipped away some tears that found their way to her eyes. She slowly nodded and calmed down. The vampire smirked" oh... My boss will have some fun with you when he catches you... he loves pretty girls "he said smoothly" Espcially ones with a little spunk "he muttered. Liz was about to ring his neck. But Peter stepped in the way" calm your self... go sit in the other car... I'll deal with him "he said smoothly..." GO "he said giving more of an order to her. Liz turned and walked off to the other car. She sat down. Peter opened the back door and bent over" hey punk.... you'd like to hear more about your boss... but at the station.... So until then shut your mouth "he said and punched him hard in the temple knocking him out.

If Excise had heard the words that the vampire had spoken to Liz, he would have gladly rounded upon him, and angry as he was, the hybrid male would have taken up for his partner, understanding that she was merely hurting, and that her words were born out of the bitterness concieved by an immense anger, the utmost of tragedies and the greatest of pains. Agonies that not even the passage of time could heal. Not completely, anyway, a fact that Excise himself knew well. He took his time clearing the perimeter as it was, however, knowing that he needed a few more moments to himself in order to adequately deal with his roiling emotions and put the calm mask back into place - he hated to show anything other than a undisturbed cool, though he was unaware of the fact that the intensity of his stare, coupled with the powerful aura that naturally surrounded him, not to mention his looming six foot seven inch height, often made him more than a little imposing on the best of days. It was something he could not help, and so had merely learned to live with it, moving on from the fact with a simple shrug when someone mentioned it to him and going about his day with a simple, though short explanation or apology - whatever might have happened to work best in the situation he found himself in. Hearing the thump of a hit, and the resounding thud of connection due to his superior senses, Excise paused, stiffening as his shoulders tensed. If he'd had a tail, it would have been ruffled, if he'd been full blooded Wolven, his ears would have been up. As it was, he vaguely resembed something half way between a vampire and wolf with his stance, green eyes scanning the area even as he reached out with his senses, trying to determine the source of its commotion. There was no sign of scuffle or trouble anywhere else in the area, so it had to be...the patrol car. Shinitzel. He cursed inwardly to himself - he never should have left the two of them alone, especially not since they were recent transplants to the city. Still, he didn't smell any blood or hear any screaming, so that was a good thing, at least. Wasn't it....? He would soon find out. Turning, Excise brought his senses reigning back in as he made his return to the car, cocking his head and holstering his weapon as he witnessed Liz leaning against the hood of the second car, and Peter standing at the door to the prisoner they'd managed to pick up at the first, wondering what could have happened in his brief absence, though the finely honed instinct in his gut whispered an urging hunch. And it wasn't pretty. "Perimeter's clear," he murmured as he drew close, tucking his hands in his pockets, standing at an easy distance away from the two, though still between them, smoldering green eyes, orbs that made lesser women shudder in their boots or melt in their jeans, glancing between both of these new recruits. By all means, his stance was easy, nonchalant, though an experienced member could see the tension humming through him, the anxiety hidden well beneath the surface. Everything told him that it was okay, that neither new partner seemed in danger, and the lack of blood scent or the sight of the red liquid told him there were no new injuries, but that didn't mean they were out of the woods just yet. After all, they still had to get the ice off the hood and the engine running, if the four of them were going to make it back to the precinct by vehicle, that was. And Excise really didn't fancy the idea, or even the vague notion of contemplation, that regarding anything remotely similar or resembling walking.

Liz's gaze was down as she held her hand that she hit the car with. It throbbed a little as the pain slowly made it's self known in her eyes. She didn't look up to Excise when he apprached she didn't want anyone to see her slightly watery eyes at the moment. She had to keep the tough girl strong image up. Peter glanced up and nodded" good and prisoner secure and quiet once more... though... I wish he wasn't cuffed so I could beat the living crap out of him.... gosh he's a creep.... So is this Boss he spoke about.... I would keep an eye on Liz.... aparently the boss likes young girls with spunk "he said smoothly" according to this punk "he muttered before looking at him. He closed the door and blinked" DARN LIZ YOU MADE A DENT IN THE CAR "he called over with a teasing smile. Liz glanced up" gee no wonder my hand hurts "she muttered back sarcasticly with a matching smile. Peter chuckled and watched as she glanced away. He didn't miss the fact that her eyes were watery. He glanced back Excise" what happened? "he asked smoothly and in a quiet voice so only he could hear him.
