Salem heard the girl cry out, and spared a glance in her direction over his shoulder, though his sapphire hued eyes were drawn back to battle as the remaining vampires came after him, hissing and spitting in a rather feline manner once they managed to work themselves out from under their still reeling companion. With a snarl, Salem leaped back into the fray, darting forward and leaping up, crashing into one vampire's chest with his paws, angling them so that it sent the blood sucker flying backwards, the male wolf landing on his feet before lunging, sinking his sharp fangs into the tender flesh of another, angling himself upwards so that the jaws met in the undead male's throat, ripping it free of the burden of both trachea and esophagus. The earth shuddered and moved beneath his paws, responding to his ire, and his call, the firm mentality of his voice causing the soil to shift and the pebbles to shudder as the firm but loose dirt beneath them, once packed so hard, began to soften, rearranging its particles into sand. Which the vampires slowly began to sink in, as they realized with a panic a few moments later. But instead of submersing them completely, Salem let them drift into the pit up to their chests before he hardened the earth back into its compact nature, leaving them trapped, but giving them a chance to get free if they worked hard enough at it. And prayed to a God they most likely did not believe in themselves. Turning his back on them, Salem snorted at the atrocity of their natures, ignoring their feeble threats with no more than a deadly glance and threatening snarl of his own as his tail bushed and raised, his posture rigid and uncompromising when it came to their insults and promises, making it clear that should they survive and come for a rematch, he would not show such mercy again. But for now, the girl needed his help. Her eyes appeared slighly unfocused now that he looked at them, and he could see a wicked gash on her head, as well as a nasty bruise on her ankle. It was most likely sprained, and she, exhausted from her ordeal and given a head injury to boot, likely had a concussion. He paused as she looked at him uncertainly, letting his tail fall and cocking his head to the side, flipping his ears forward inquisitively, wondering what she was going for when she murmured the stammering words, at which point he merely raised a brow and looked back up at her face, pulling his head back a bit as he paused in his stride. Seriously? The expression of such sentiment was written all over his face.

Max was woozy but her brain seems to be in working order... It could occur to him that she was in and out and missed him useing his powers. and that she had came from a reigon without shifters. And that in fear of her life she was trying to be friendly? Her hand found his ears and she gently rubbed them before withdrawing her hand seeing that look he gave her mistaking it for one of agression or annoyance.. "S-sorry..." She whimpered out curling up in a ball as if to protect herself from him dispite knowing in the end it would do no good if he were a feral wolf looking for a meal. If he thought about it it made sense. Not knowing shifters existed and not seeing the magical feats he had just preformed due to her bein too dizzy to see. He could see that she had retreived something from her pocket the black textured grip of a switchblade showed through her fingers as she clutched the unopened blade as if preparing for the worse. She fumbled it in her dizzy state causeing it to roll out of her reach. She let out a pained noise as the world shifted and turned in her head causeing her to close her eyes again and clutch at her skull obviously in a world of pain and discomfort at the moment

Instead of attacking her, Salem merely stepped back from her touch, not enjoying such intrusion into his personal space, though judging by her reaction, he figured she was concussed, and most likely quite out of it. And then there was the fact that he happened to be in his animal form, which he noticed as he stepped back. A flick of his ears with a glance at his furred form confirmed the idea that perhaps she was fearful of him due to this was reinforced. With a sigh and another look back at her, Salem flicked one ear back, before he blinked his sapphire blue orbs and shifted back into his human form, becoming a rather attractive young male around eighteen with a shock of brown hair the color of mud, and eyes the same hue. Hos skin was pale, revealing he didnt get out in the sun too often, but it was not as pasty as that of one who remained in shadow all day. Perhaps Max would think she had gone crazy. Perhaps she would think her head had been hit harder than she thought, but where there was once a white and gray wolf standing before her, this male was now here, wolf ears flicking forward on his head even as she huddled in misery, holding her skull where she had split the protective surface of her skin wide open. There was a soft sigh that left his lips before he reached his hand out, resting it lightly on her shoulder for a second, a gesture meant to reassure her. "Easy," he murmured. "I will not hurt or harm you." Salem took his jacket off and draped it over her slender shoulders, before gently pulling her up and off the ground to him, his grip surprisingly firm yet gentle. "Let me see the wounds. Relax." He firmed his hold on her as she tried to struggle, his grip unyielding and strong, pressing her against the muffled expanse of his chest. "Relax. Im trying to help you."

Max's struggled ceased quickly when she felt herself get pressed against his chest. Relaxing Max sighs softly breathing in his scent and taking in his warmth "I.. enver... knew a consushon was so hot..." She slurred softly almost seeming drunk now. She had to lie down. Get her head wrapped up and just rest. Her wits would return to her shortly however that little comment would surly make the male blush. As max was pretty easy on the eyes herself, if she wasnt bleeding though. She closed her eyes relaxing staying concious breathing in his scent as he was able to patch her head up and stop the bleeding.

Salem felt a sparking flash of relief as she relaxed against him, as for a moment, he was afraid she would fight him every step of the way. Something that would have only caused her wounds to worsen. He was gently probing the injury, determining its extent when she murmured her comment, and he paused, processing it before he rolled his eyes and continued what he was doing. However, he did not have the materials here to handle it fully, and so he used what he did, placing a bandage on the wound after cleaning it briefly, muttering, "This is going to hurt. Try to hold still. I dont have everything here to fix it, but Im going to at least patch it up. Try not to squirm or we'll never get you fixed." He kept his voice, something rough and country, obviously only vaguely sophisticated, if that, soft. It was pleasant to listen too, if she so chose, and when combined with his scent and warmth, may have lulled her to sleep. He looked at the ankle, but it wasnt too bad, so he left it as was seeing as he was out of bandages, merely removing his second jacket, wrapping it around her ventral side, before scooping her up in the firm and powerful structure of his arms, and proceeded to carry her woozy, concussed form to his home, her head and face resting against the soft black cloth of his t shirt, the shining silver of a necklace about his neck blurring with movement before her unfocused eyes.

She had wrapped her arms around him snuggleing herself close in to his warm embrace as she dozed off finding it comfy. "Mmm.." She murmers sleepily as he carried her.. Her short and light frame not requireing much to lift her which made the trip easier for Salem as he took her to his house. She woke up a little bit after he had set her down on his couch and woke up to (you post what she sees. if he stayed with her or if he let her rest alone on the couch

Salem merely looked at her with that same raised brow as she snuggled into him, but he didnt say anything since she was already almost out, and it was easy to carry her limp form to the cave where he currently resided, setting her down on his bed roll, where he was able to fully examine and treat both of her wounds. Stitches went into her head, and he painstakingly cleaned the injury both before and after the sutures were in, glad she was unconscious for this part. After that he rebandaged it, moving onto her ankle, cleaning the abrasion, faint as it was after examining the bruise, and wrapping the sprained surface in an ace wrap, effectively stablizing it in case she tried to walk again before she was ready. Afterwards, he propped her head on a pillow and covered her with his blankets, elevating her leg so as to help with swelling, managing to scrounge up some ice from a secret store and place it over the ugly area of the bruise. When she woke, he was sitting off to the side, as if keeping watch, though close enough that he could still take care of her if she needed anything. But for now she was safe and warm, so perhaps she would go back to sleep, especially with his jackets still tucked over her, providing her with his scent. She could see his form, sitting there with a book open in his lap, an apple in his hand, munching quietly while he patiently waited for her to recover.

Max woke up not too long after she got all settled in a faint pained groan leaving her lips as she raised one arm up sort of infront of her face.. Her world hazy.. out of focus and off balance eventhough she wasnt even standing.. Pain shot through her head and through her ankle at the same time causeing her to let out pained noises. She slowly tried to sit up but couldnt raise herself more then a foot off of the bedroll..She felt her switchblade was gone and tried useing her powers to no avail.. Thankfully she had caught the attention of Salem alerting him that she was indeed awake and trying to move and sit up. Something she shouldnt be doing but a natrual instinct she had. His firm but gentle had easily kept her down as her eyes slid into focus slowly "Where.... am.. I...?" She murmers out not spotting his ears as she still had a blury image and they were well hidden at the moment...

Salem looked over at the female as soon as she stirred, pricking his ears as she groaned. Setting down both book and apple he went to her, attempting to ease her back down beneath the soothing warmth of the blankets and his jackets once again, but when she insisted upon rising he lifted her up himself with a sigh, letting the girl rest against his chest once again as she blinked, attempting to gain her bearings. "My place," he replied in that country drawl, perhaps a dialect she recognized and perhaps not. "Take it easy - you have a concussion. You shouldnt be moving around just yet." His ears were in plain sight now, the male pricking them forward in an attempt to capture the whispering notes of her dry voice. Pressing a canteen to her lips, he instructed, "Drink. You need to stay hydrated, though I wouldnt eat if I were you. You'll be dizzy and nauseous for quite awhile. Ankles sprained, so you need to stay off of it too. Try to rest." He kept his tone quiet and talked more slowly so she could comprehend, knowing her fuzzy mental state.

Max closed her eyes trying to get her world to stop shaking and spinning atleast a little bit as her right hand felt along her belt for an item that wasnt there causeing her to visabley become a little upset. She was still tired and a little out of it.. And figured the ears were just her mind wonking out "M-My switch" She simpally spoke referring to the small but handy blackhandled switchblade she had tried to pull out as a last line of defence earlier Hopefully he had it. It held a lot fo sentimental value to Max. "W-water. please?" She spoke her voice rather soft and very nice to listen to. She couldnt be older then 18 or 19 and from her clothes it seemed she was still in collage. or perhaps a specialty school A large brown bag was one of her belongings although he may or may not have snooped into her belongings to see what she had in there. Once she had the water she drank it slowly before looking up at him as she handed the glass back to him before she started rubbing her eyes and leaning in a little as she examined him. She reached out to touch the two pointed canine ears atop his head as if she was trying to see if they were real or not "E-ears..? But..." She couldnt comprehend it right now and perhaps had shed some light this was her first wolven encounter perhaps. She was tired. And Salem easily could lull her back to sleep with some gentle words and perhaps a soft hug or having her lie down with something to rest her head on

Pressing the little blade into her hand, Salem supported her as she drank, taking the canteen from her once she was finished, though he hadnt yet laid her back down. Setting the handy little jug aside, Salem returned his attention to the female, lifting her chin with one hand as he examined her eyes, noting the dilation of each pupil, as well as taking her temperature and noting her skin color while he was at it, tilting her head this way and that, so that he could complete his inspection, though he was exceedingly gentle. He had placed her bag beside her, leaving its contents untouched and unrifled through - he wouldn't snoop unless given permission. He flicked said ears when she touched them, slightly incling his head to bring them from her reach, almost as if, unlike most Wolven, he preferred them not to be so easily touched or messed with. "Yes, ears. Im Wolven." His voice was soft and quiet so as not to disturb her, but it surprised him she had never heard of his kind and breed. They were all over the place, after all, and humans were becoming increasingly aware of their presence.

Max giggled softly "I must have hit my head harder the. I thought..." she spoke before relaxing her back against the rock wall of the cave "I'm Max Caulfield... who are you?" She asks softly looking into his eyes as she slowly regained her wits "are.. younwven real?" She asks again touching his chest with a finger half expecting him to be intangiable and a figment of her mind.. but she was clearing up and he still was there

Salem curled a lip at her touch, looking first at her slender finger then at her, raising that brow and snurling his mouth at the question, dryly replying, "No, Im not real. Im just a figment of your imagination. Because they can pjck you up, carry you home, and tend your wounds."

Max leaned toward him and slapped him. Not putting much effort into it but still leaving a slight sting to it before her eyes widened "ohmygodimsorry" she blurted out before tenseing up "Y-your really a werewolf?!" She asks that fearful tone coming back but also one of curiosity. Ironically from her clothing she looked just like little red and now here she was infront of the real big bad wolf

Salems head turned to the side once she slapped him, though it was more from surprise than actual force, the male falling silent as he processed what had happened, his jaw clenching momentarily as he realigned it, dark brown eyes upon her as the ears flicked to and fro, both from outside stimulation and his own mixed emotions. On one hand, her spunk amused him. On the other, like so many things, it irritated and irked him. "No," he replied dryly. "Im not a werewolf. Im a Wolven." He did not move toward her, did not make any threatening motions. He simply remained where he was, watching her somewhat quietly.

Max averted her gaze from him as if ashamed she was such an idiot "W-what... are wolven then..?" She asks shyly.. thinking she had upset him from that slap or atleast irritated him "My mind isnt working right.. im sorry.." She apologized atleast seemign remorseful for her actions.

Salem rolled his eyes, then went to his fire, which was small and tidy, removing from it a tea kettle, and pouring for her a tiny cup before taking it to her, handing it over gently, muttering, "Be careful. Its hot. It will help your nerves." He sat back before she asked her questions, keeping a comfortable distance so as not to make her feel stifled, or as if he were oppressing her, looming over her with his superior height. Crossing his arms over his muscled chest, which she could see even beneath the shielding fabric of his black shirt, the jackets still tucked about her shoulders. "A mutt essentially. We've been mixed with virtually every creature there is with a human or humanoid form. We look himan but have animal tails and ears. We can turn into a wolf. We have multiple lives and powers." The explanation was brief and short, to the point. Just like him.

Max took a small sip of her tea and tried her best to relax "I... never heard or seen fo your kind before... what.. happened to those guys chasing me?" She asks looking up at him again brushing her brown hair from her eyes gently. She glanced over at her bag before pulling it over to her and checking to make sure nothing was broken or damaged. A old style insta camera was in her bag it seemed, the kind that printed the pictures out right after taking them as well as a sort of sketch book or notebook

At her question regarding her pursuers, Salem tightened his lips, and looked away, a strand of his brown hair drifting in front of his handsomely lean face while his ears flicked back, murmuring, "You don't want to know." He wasn't sure what all she carried with her, but as she opened the bag, he caught the scent of film, paper, and pencil, so he guessed she was an artsy type. That didn't explain why the vampires were after her, but then again, little did. Vampires were blood thirsty creatures who lived for their next moment to feed, and hunted down the most helpless of humans to do it. They disgusted him, and Salem hated their kind. As the vampires so callously hated his. "Where have you been, to have never heard of Wolven? Living under a rock here lately? Or do you just not pay attention to the news or world around you?"
